MINUTES OF THE ELM RIVER TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING

DECEMBER 10, 2009

The regular township monthly meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Board members Present were Lynn Huotari, Jim Saur, Deb Maki, and Bob Sibilsky. Absent: Margaret Lindeman.

MINUTES OF MEETING: The minutes of the November 12 th meeting were read and Approved. Motion to approve: Huotari/Saur, all voted aye.

TREASURER’S REPORT: The treasurer’s report was given by Treasurer Huotari and was accepted as given. The fund balances are as follows: Citizens Bank CD $7,474.21, SNBGeneral Account $30,703.69, MBIA Fire Fund $23,464.47, MBIA General Fund $53,067.66, MBIA Tax Fund $315.15, SNB Tax Account $6,577.15

CORRESPONDENCE: A flyer for On-line Planning Commission Training Michigan Citizen Planner was received. It was further suggested that two members of our planning board take part. Shawn Hagen and Doris Johnson were recommended for funding. $200.00 ea. was approved for both to take the online course. Motion: Maki/Saur, all voted aye.

A letter from the U.S Census Bureau was received for 2010 Boundary and Annexation Survey Workshop. Our boundary map was essentially correct, therefore it was decided that no further action was needed.

A letter from Barry E. Gaudette CPA soliciting our township for future audit action was received.

OLD BUSINESS: none

NEW BUSINESS:

BUDGET AMENDMENTS: A revised 2009-2010 budget was presented by Supervisor Maki. Motion to approve changes, Saur/Sibilsky, all voted aye. (Copy attached)

INVESTMENT /DEPOSITORY RESOLUTION: A revised 12-10-09 investment /depository resolution was approved. Motion Saur/Sibilsky, all voted aye.

MTA CONFERENCE: The annual MTA conference is scheduled for Grand Rapids in January. Supervisor Maki didn’t think anyone from our township would be attending this year.

AUDIT: It was noted that many of the recommendations have already been implemented and some correction to pages 3 and 4 were in order regarding (11%) positive versus negative sign reversal. The Board had already implemented numerous recommendations. A motion to accept the audit with corrections: Motion Maki/Saur, all voted aye

PLANNING COMMISSION: Next meeting was scheduled for 12-16-09. No update until then.

CITIZEN’S COMMENTS: Jay Glandon noted that the planning commission’s recommendations would be available to the people for discussion and input before anything is implemented.

PAYMENT OF THE BILLS: Motion to pay the bills Maki/Sibilsky, all voted aye. Bills amount to $8,446.52.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Township Fire Dept Christmas Party, December 12, 2009, Games 4:30 p.m., Dinner 5:30 p.m., Santa 6:30 p.m.
